Northeast’s renowned socio-cultural organisation AMRAPALI (Society for ARTS) releases their Press Meet at their city centred Amrapali Institute of Arts – AIA, Zoo Tiniali on August 5th for their upcoming 2nd CHIMERA 2017, an inter school & college fest. This event is supported by Cultural Affairs, Govt. of Assam; recognised by Shri Shri Uttar Kamalabari Sattra, Majuli and Asomiya Protidin and Amrapali Magazine are the Media Partners.
This event concentrates upon various artistic subjects associated to performing & visual arts from classes Nursery to XII. The Cultural Night & Prize Distribution Ceremony was earlier decided to be on September 4th at District Library from 6 pm but with increasing registrations, the Chimera committee decided to host the Cultural Nite & Prize Distribution ceremony on October 24th at District Library, Guwahati from 6 pm onwards. Amrapali would premier their choreographic production named ‘Maa’, based on child abuse & molestation on this occasion.
This year, CHIMERA brings in much more fun as it launches their INTERNATIONAL YOUTH ARTS OLYMPIAD (IYAO). Founder of Amrapali (Society for ARTS) Pranaame Bhagawati says that, it has been a much awaited dream to initiate such an Olympiad that’ll specifically target arts, culture & heritage and bring in awareness amongst the school children upon these subjects.
Another added attraction to CHIMERA is the Dance competition, bifurcated into Solo & Group categories. The Solo category specifies Indian Classical Dance style from classes I to XII & the Group category can be of any dance genre with a theme based choreography.
The competition would start running in as many schools within Guwahati from August 7, 2017 & its registration closes on August 31st.
